He served through numerous major campaigns of the Napoleonic era, including \u003cstrong\u003eAspern-Essling, the Russian campaign of 1812 and Borodino\u003c\/strong\u003e, where he was wounded, and later distinguished himself at \u003cstrong\u003eHanau in 1813\u003c\/strong\u003e. He was created \u003cstrong\u003eCount of the Empire\u003c\/strong\u003e and later served as Inspector General of Cavalry.
