He is noticed in contemporary accounts as having been part of the landing party, wherein he tended to wounded and managed an outbreak of Smallpox. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHe died later that same year, at a young age, from \u003cstrong\u003eenteric fever whilst serving aboard HMS Anson in Malta\u003c\/strong\u003e, making this a particularly poignant surviving piece connected to a short but active naval career.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe sword is of the traditional \u003cstrong\u003e1827 Pattern Royal Navy form\u003c\/strong\u003e, with gilt brass hilt, fouled-anchor naval decoration and lion-head pommel.
