French Lebel M1886-Type Bayonet – Possible Remington Manufacture – WW1 Era
French Lebel M1886-Type Bayonet – Possible Remington Manufacture – WW1 Era
Original French Lebel M1886-type bayonet, of the distinctive pattern associated with the Lebel service rifle and widely used during the First World War.
This example has the characteristic long cruciform spike blade and metal hilt of the familiar French “Rosalie” pattern. It appears consistent with a First World War-era example.
The bayonet may be of Remington manufacture due to the lack of a serial prefix - produced in connection with wartime French contracts, although this attribution has not been conclusively confirmed and it is therefore offered cautiously as a possible identification rather than a firm maker attribution - warrants further research.
A very recognisable piece of French military equipment and a good representative example for a WW1, French Army or edged-weapons collection.
