Napoleonic Autograph Letter – General Antoine-Louis Decrest, Comte de Saint-Germain

Original handwritten letter by General Antoine-Louis Decrest, Comte de Saint-Germain (1761–1835), one of the notable French cavalry commanders of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.

The letter is written and signed by Saint-Germain himself, essentially submitting his CV for a role in the Royal government after Napoleon's exile to Elba in 1814. 

Saint-Germain rose to the rank of Général de Division and became particularly associated with France’s heavy cavalry and cuirassiers. He served through numerous major campaigns of the Napoleonic era, including Aspern-Essling, the Russian campaign of 1812 and Borodino, where he was wounded, and later distinguished himself at Hanau in 1813. He was created Count of the Empire and later served as Inspector General of Cavalry. His name is among those inscribed on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
