French Chassepot Bayonet – Kirschbaum Solingen – Serial 7410 – With Scabbard
Original French Chassepot rifle bayonet, manufactured in Germany by Kirschbaum of Solingen, and numbered 7410.
A good honest example retaining a clean, well-preserved blade with the characteristic yataghan profile, together with its original steel scabbard. The hilt shows the expected age-related wear and patina, while the blade presents particularly well for its age.
German-manufactured Chassepot bayonets are an interesting variation on the standard French examples, with Solingen makers supplying substantial numbers during the 19th century.
The bayonet and scabbard make a complete and attractive display piece, suitable for a French military, Franco-Prussian War or edged-weapons collection.
Condition: Excellent original antique condition. Blade is in good order, with age-related wear, marks and patina to the hilt and scabbard. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
