1862 NCO Sword – ADK Marked – MHC & “19” Unit/Issue Markings

Original mid-19th-century non-commissioned officer’s sword, dated 1862 and carrying a number of distinctive military markings.

The sword is marked “ADK” and bears “MHC” to the guard, together with the number “19” to the guard/pommel area. These surviving issue or ownership markings give the piece considerably more character than an unmarked example and are suggestive of genuine period military service.

A solid and attractive 19th-century military sword with regulation-style brass hilt and substantial straight blade, representative of the type of sidearm carried by Union NCOs during the period.

The combination of the 1862 date, ADK marking, MHC stamp and repeated “19” marking make the sword worthy of further research. 

Condition: Good original antique condition with age-related wear, marks, patina and surface oxidation throughout. The hilt and blade show the expected signs of military use and more than 160 years of age. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
